WARREN TOWNSHIP
The Township of Warren, originally inhabited by the Lenape Indians, has served as the
crossroads for travelers between Pennsylvania and East Jersey since colonial days.
Probably the oldest landmark still remaining, dating back to 1692, is the tavern known as
King George Inn. Located along the King’s Highway, the Inn became a well known stop for
travelers.
Today, major highways have transformed Warren from a small farming town into a rural
residential community of single family homes on lots of an acre or more.
For those that want wide open spaces, woods, and country life coupled with the advantages
of a more compact community, Warren offers the best of both worlds.

Horse owners are not the exception in this
rural location of rolling, forested acres where here and there
grazing cows accentuate the peaceful landscape. Warren has excellent schools,
a library, and a wide selection of community groups and
recreational facilities.
Hiking, swimming, birdwatching, picnicking, and horseback riding are
year-round features of the Watchung Reservation. There is excellent golf,
both public and private, as well as evening entertainment and dining
available.
Within easy commuting distance of New York City (driving time is about
three-quarters of an hour), Warren is spanned on the north by Interstate 78.
Commuting by railroad takes about an hour and fifteen minutes. Newark
Airport is fifteen miles away by car and bus service to New York City is
available nearby.
