FANWOOD BOROUGH

Fanwood is a borough in Union County, NJ. It was incorporated as a borough in 1895 from portions of Fanwood Township, now known as Scotch Plains. Located 20 miles southwest of New York City, the borough offers families train and bus transportation as well as highway access to metropolitan hubs. A charming Victorian styled building, the Fanwood station (also known as Fanwood-Scotch Plains), is a New Jersey Transit railroad station on the Raritan Valley Line, providing rail service to Newark - Penn Station in Newark with connecting service to Penn Station New York. Fanwood shares a school system with neighboring Scotch Plains, public school students attend schools in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional School District. Fanwood is a predominately single-family residential community, housing includes a variety of styles such as colonials, capes, vicitorians and splits sitting on tree lined streets.
